Nurturing Development

This interactive, on-going program for children and their parents/caregiver is designed to offer extra support and a quiet space in which to use play to nurture your child’s development. Toronto Preschool Speech and Language and other community agencies will occasionally partner with CMCP to provide resources when needed. Space is limited to 8 to 10 families. Registration is required and staff will work with families to see who would best benefit from this program.

Mondays from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm at 180 Shaw Street, Lower Level 2.

For further inquiries or to register, please call us at 416-532-9485, extension 221.

Speech and Language Program (pre-school)

This CMCP collaboration with Early Abilities is a parent-child program that helps children with language development. It operates Monday mornings at our main site. Families who are interested in attending must be invited to do so through Early Abilities. If you have concerns about your child’s language development, please speak to our early childhood educators.

Young Parents Connect

Young Parents Connect is an opportunity for young parents aged 16 to 29 and their children aged 0 to 6 years to come together to share, create and learn. A variety of art activities and informal discussions are available each week for both parents and the children to explore. Lunch, TTC tokens and childcare are provided.

School Readiness

This summer play-based educational program prepares children starting school in the fall. It has two parts. First, parents participate in a workshop that helps them understand how to prepare their child for school and support their education. Second, children participate in a program similar to what they will encounter in kindergarten. Early Childhood Educators introduce children to a structured classroom environment and support children as they are separated from their parents. The goal is to develop and reinforce speech, language, problem-solving, self-help, literacy, numeracy, and social skills

Kindergym

Parents/caregivers and children are welcome to join the gym time that lets children be active and meet their gross motor developmental skills. Our child-friendly space encourages running, jumping, crawling, sliding, climbing, tumbling, using riding toys and bicycles, playing games, and interacting with others. Parents/caregivers must remain with their children.

Community Kitchen

Preparing Food

Join us for our weekly community kitchen, where families connect over a nutritious meal. Information is available on how to prepare healthy meals on a budget, and a nutritionist visits monthly to offer information. Grab an apron and help us cook! We can support your children while you help us in the kitchen.

Dad’s Drop-in at West

The Dad’s Drop-In brings fathers and grandfathers together with their children and grandchildren up to six years of age. This bi-weekly Saturday preschool drop-in is designed to stimulate healthy child development and healthy parenting practices. Through a combination of experiential learning activities that build on the five developmental domains, fathers and grandfathers interact with their kids and grandkids in thoughtfully-planned activities that bring them closer as they have fun. This program is delivered through our partner, West Neighbourhood House

Mat Chats

Families can informally discuss a variety of relevant subjects regarding child rearing and child development. Our staff and/or one of our many community partners facilitate discussions. Participants are asked to inform us regarding which topics they desire most. In our drop-in, families connect with staff, volunteers and other families on an ongoing basis.

Participant Breakfast Meetings

Parents and caregivers are invited to join us for quarterly breakfast meetings, which provide the opportunity to bond with other participants over a bite, give us feedback about our programs and services, and learn more about CMCP and other topics that impact you and your family. Childminding is provided. Registration required.

Summer Parks Program

Summer Camp

Every summer, CMCP brings our program into a local park. Parents, caregivers and children join us for fun-filled outdoor activities, arts and crafts, a sing-song circle, parachute fun and lots of different activities.  Please see our calendars for locations. If there is rain and/or lightning, our Play and Learn Drop-in moves indoors.

For dates, times and locations, see our Calendar or call us at 416-532-9485, extension 221 or 225.
